Balaklava Best Bets

R1/9- WHO’S AFRAID

  • WHO’S AFRAID looks ready to win his maiden now having run strongly in his past 2 races. He blasted from near last at Murray Bridge last start to reel of some of the fastest closing sectionals of the day and nearly pinched the race. He beat home a runner called THE GREY KING by 3.5L who has since franked the form by winning Sunday. There looks good pace on in this race and from the wide barrier, WHO’S AFRAID will likely camp off that and look to produce ig finish again over the top.

R4/4 - JIMMY’S EDGE (BEST OF DAY)

  • JIMMY’S EDGE drops in grade today having last competed at Morphettville in The SA Sprint Series Final at BM82 grade. He has finished only 3.5L off the winner in a very high pressure race and this is much easier today. He has drawn a wide barrier which is a small negative, but he does have the early speed to help him cross and the chute start will help with that. He likes this track with a 2:1-1-0 record here and in the easier race looks much better suited today.

R6/7- LAKEHURST

  • Backs up today having won well last week at Gawler when he dropped in grade after a string of good runs. He is in good form and maps to get a good run just behind the speed very similar to last weekend. Jason Holder retains the ride and LAKEHURST looks every chance to win 2 weeks in a row.
