Is 2nd up here today and looks well suited now rising up to the 1400m after she made up good ground late 1st up over the 1200m at The Valley when it was a tough day to do so. She has a super record over the 1400m (5:3-1-1) & she has improved off both of her 1st up runs in previous preps, so improvement here, should see her run a big race based off that 1st up effort at The Valley.

R8/6- ASFOORA

ASFOORA generally runs good races 1st up (3:2-0-1). The 1st up race she didn’t win, she ran 3rd in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate. So she rates well enough to be able to win 1st up here in a Group 3. She maps to get a gun run from barrier 3, up on the speed and has won 3 of 5 races over the 1100m trip. Rates perfectly for this race today.

R9/14- ANNAVISTO (EW/VALUE OF DAY)

For the 1st Group 1 of the season here in Victoria, I’m looking out wide given some of the more fancied runners either aren’t suited from wide barriers, or may need a lot of luck from the inside. So looking wide I’ve settled on the Mare ANNAVISTO who goes into this 1st up today and generally does her best work 1st up into a prep (5:4-1-0). In particularly, her last 2 efforts 1st up were wins over the 1400m at Group3 level and one of this was a career peak performance. She has multiple wins over this track/trip and maps to be running forwards from barrier 4. A bit has been said about her trial form, but to my eye she has never been a star at the trials, expecting her to be in this for a long way at the good EW price.
