The SA visitor was an impressive winner on Melbourne Cup day down the straight. He ran that race in a very good time off a slow tempo so he looks as if the rise up to the 1200m today will suit, drawn in barrier 5 should give him a good run and he does look like quite a progressive type.

R8/3- MIDWEST (BEST OF DAY)

Resuming today from a let up, he has had 2 trials in the lead up to this race and both were quite good. MIDWEST was 2nd in this race last year and again looks well placed here to give this a shake. Drawn in barrier 6 and he has good early speed, so expecting he can find a forward position as well as keep off the rail which puts him a great spot.

R9/2- JUST FOLK

The bet on JUST FOLK is somewhat of a wait and watch for the weather. He loves a rain affected track so if there are wet conditions race day, I would expect him to firm in the market given how well the wet conditions would suit. He is also 3rd up here today and has previously run well 3rd up (5:3-0-0) so he is still worth a small EW bet if the track is dry given his recent form as well but we are looking for some rain to increase his chances.
