Super open race to start here and looking to kick off with some value. Sometimes with the younger horses, they can get a bit lost coming down the straight for the first time. LASCARS has been down the straight twice now and placed in one of those. He gets a slight advantage thanks to that. The well bred TAPIN THREE was scratched from last week for this. He stablemate won the race she was aimed at last weekend and she has shown at trials that she is potentially faster so may produce something real nice on debut here. GIGA KICK won his debut in February in a sharp time. This is a tougher grade now and he seems a bit to short for mine.

THALASSOPHILE has looked to be really looking to extend out to a decent trip after how she has been finishing off over the 1600m and she gets that trip today. Has done her best work on heavy tracks so if the conditions remain as they are she is well suited. OCEANA BLUE has proven she can run out these staying trips having run well over the 2000m here last start and placing over the 1800m. Look for her to be coming hard late if she finds clear space in the straight. LADY ADELAIDE is drawn to get a gun run in behind an expected fast tempo. Has been finishing off well in her last few suggesting she will see this trip out.
Race 3
1- ZOUSONIC
12- ITS TRUE
4- SPANISH TIDES
ZOUSONIC will get out to a distance where she looks a lot better suited here today. She finished off her last start with the fastest last 200m for the day so the rise looks ideal. Drawn wide wont be a concern as she is will get back. ITS TRUE has looked close to a win this prep and particularly recently having placed in her last 3 starts. Comes in a lot lighter than the others in the field thanks to the claiming apprentice which will really help late. SPANISH TIDES has had the early market support and is coming off a last start win. This isn’t too much harder than that.
Race 4
3- THROUGH IRISH EYES (BEST OF DAY)
6- HORRIFYING
2- SWEET THOMAS
THROUGH IRISH EYES has placed in his past 4 and those all at a good level. He is proven at the track, over this distance and gets suitable conditions. If he runs up to recent efforts he will be hard to beat. HORRIFYING is another who runs well here at Flemington having only missed the placings once from 5 starts at this track. He has come up against THROUGH IRISH EYES a few times recently and hasn’t been far away, with a soft run from barrier 1 he might be close enough to get past him this time. SWEET THOMAS wasn’t far off the fave when they met 2 starts back in The Brisbane Cup. Record over this distance is good.

1- QUANG TRI
8- TRANSZAM
4- VERIFIER
QUANG TRI is the only one with winning experience in this field and it doesn’t look like she should have much trouble accounting for the other in the field, she will appreciate trip and conditions. Looks very hard to beat. TRANSZAM was only 2L off QUANG TRI in their last start. He meets her better at the weights today but query how he will go pushing forwards from a wide barrier when rising in distance. VERIFIER finished off really strongly on debut and now rises in trip which going on the debut run, should really suit. She will improve on the debut run.

9- SQUID GAME
1- KALKARNI ROYALE
Happy to take on short price fave SQUID GAME in this today. He is definitely talented and has good straight track experience, but the knock I’ve got on him his the 1000m. He is a get back run on type who I don’t think is suited by the 1000m, would prefer him over closer to 1200m. VERANSKOVA resumes today, her previous 2 runs 1st up have included a win and a 2nd. So proven fresh and drawn wide which by this time of the day, may be the spot to be. KALKARNI ROYALE rate highly in this field. She has won here before and won when fresh. Wouldn’t surprise at decent odds.

4- D’AGUILAR
1- MANKAYAN
11- BLUE CUP
D’AGUILAR was a good winner last start when rising to this trip for the 1st time. He ran good time and beat some handy horses. He loves rain effected ground and with these expected conditions he looks well placed again. MANKAYAN has been impressive since resuming. He has won 2 starts in a row this prep. Rising in trip and wet track conditions suit but his best work has previously come 1st & 2nd up. Has he peaked already is the question. BLUE CUP might be an improver here now he is 2nd up in the country. Rises out to a staying trip which should be more suitable.
Race 8
7- DAYTONA BAY
3- JIMMY THE BEAR
5- MY YANKEE GIRL
DAYTONA hasn’t really put a foot wrong since winning on debut. He impressed in his last start storming home late to place up in a grade and in a quick last 200m. Light at the weights and booked a leading a jockey. JIMMY THE BEAR & MY YANKEE GIRL have both won 2 in a row now and aiming for 3. JIMMY THE BEAR has brought up both of his recent wins here at the track/distance. We conditions suit and he has had strong market support. MY YANKEE GIRL’s last start win over the track/distance was against some good horses and she again gets suitable conditions to again figure in the finish.
Race 9
15- INCREDULOUS DREAM
7- FLORESCENT STAR
6- BILL THE BOXER
Another straight track race here to finish off the day. INCREDULOUS DREAM resumes today, usually does her best work when she is 1st up. Comes in light at the weight but also gets a good chance to get to the outside rail which might be the place to be by the last. FLORESCENT STAR is also drawn out in the wider part of the track, she was 2nd in her last start which was down the straight as well and she beat home some handy runners that day. Has had the early market support. BILL THE BOXER is in good form having won his past 3. He will be the likely leader and may take some catching with a soft run up the front. The wetter it is will suit him better.
