Best Bets

R1/4- KARAVAS (EW/VALUE OF DAY)

  • Always tough to bet into 2YO races, but this horse represents a strong EW play to kick of the day. KARAVAS won on debut at Murray Bridge and peeled off a very fast closing split to salute coming from off the pace. In the small field with the space at Flemington, expect he will run a strong race and be finishing off hard. Worth an EW ticket at the price, and don’t underestimate the stable when they travel interstate!

R4/2- FOXY FRIDA

  • Backs up today after she competed in Saturdays Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes. She will appreciate dropping well down in grade here, and generally does her best work when she starts to get deeper into a prep. She is 4th up here today, should be very fit now.

R8/4- SERVED COLD

  • Looks a runner in this race who is well over the odds. She has taken a different path to get to The Oaks than some over have, but she is coming into this in winning form after she was a winner against the boys in the Listed level Geelong Classic. The key from that race was the fact that she won over the 2200m. The pressure can be on these fillies over the 2500m, so the fact SERVED COLD has seen out a trip, she should be strong through the line here, does also still represent an EW option at this point.

R9/4- GREGOLIMO (BEST OF DAY)

  • Looks the class runner of this field today. Dropping out of a Group 3 last start (where he was placed) and way back down to a BM90 here today. Maps well from barrier 6, expecting he can sit just off the speed in a comfortable position. He maps well from barrier 6 and gets suitable conditions so should go close here now 3rd up.
