Conditions - Soft
Race 1
1- FLEURIEU FLIPPER
11- KAMALAMI
12- LIGHTS OF BROADWAY
FLEURIEU FLIPPER has been runner up in his past 2 and looks close to a win, was good here at the track 2 starts back and that was in decent time. He has been finishing off strongly so expect him to figure. KAMALAMI was strongly backed when resuming off the back of some decent trials. Should be better for being 2nd and fitter now. LIGHTS OF BROADWAY may be set up best if the tempo in this race is hot. She will likely be back in the field and finishing off strongly if she can find space in the straight.
Race 2
12- THE WEIGHT
3- KINGSLEY
7- APACHE FOX
THE WEIGHT is on debut for a new stable here, looking at her lightly raced career, she ran well on debut and then may not have had appreciated the heavy going in her 2nd start. Like where she is drawn for an on speed run and the fact she will carry a light weight. KINGSLEY has looked good since resuming this prep, she wasn’t far off the winners 1st up here at the track and then into the placings 2nd up. Could be improved here for being fitter and comes in nicely at the weights after a claim. APACHE FOX found herself in some winnable positions last prep but was fading late in races. She has spelled and may have come back better. She should find a good on speed position and look a chance at some stage.
Race 3
14- PERISSEUO
7- STRIKE AWARD
3- FAMILY ADDITION
Not a lot went right for PERISSEUO when he debuted here a few weeks ago. He found some trouble early and didn’t really figure in the race. He comes from a smart stable, so I’m expecting he will improve here for having had that race day experience and rising in distance. STRIKE AWARD contested well at a tougher level last prep but didn’t look up to that level when he was first up. This is probably an easier race that the resuming on so he may improve. FAMILY ADDITION will be much improved for rising out in distance here today and started to improve after a first up run last prep.
Race 4
7- CHROMATICA
6- ALPINE BEAU
9- SOUTHERN SWOOP
CHROMATICA was impressive when winning on debut after enduring a wide run and still finishing off. Think rising in distance is really going to suit her now and the better barrier here should give her a better run. ALPINE BEAU is still a maiden runner, but had competing in much stronger races than this level today. His last start was a solid run in a Group 3 at Morphettville behind some handy runners who will contest the Derby. Get back in the run and works home strongly so may need luck late. SOUTHERN SWOOP won here 2 starts back and should improve out of the last start. now that she backs up into this with only a weeks break.
Race 5
2- OURKHANI (BEST)
4- ALLUSION
6- AMMO AMOR
OURKHANI will probably be at his best when he is fitter and getting out over further distance, but with scratching this isn’t a very strong race and he rates highly vs the field. If he is here in decent shape, he should prove too good. ALLUSION is a winner over this track/distance and he draws to find a soft run likely behind the leaders. AMMO AMOR looks the likely leader of the field, and given the small field it could be to his advantage to be in control of this. The one all runners will have to chase down.
Race 6
13- RUSTYDUSTYSUNSHINE (EW/VALUE OF DAY)
2- BON PEGASUS
5- SHOPSTER
Found this on very open, so have gone looking for one at good value. Landed on RUSTYDUSTYSUNSHINE who is based here at the track and has a 25% strike rate over this track/distance. She drops in grade from her last start and that should see her improve. BON PEGASUS has won 2/3 runs here at the track across her career. She runs beat with the sting out of the ground, so conditions today will really suit. SHOPSTER won well here lasts start, and has drawn similarly again so she can probably lead or otherwise slot in behind the leaders for a soft run.
Race 7
6- FIGHT FOR FREEDOM
3- VIVALDI’S QUEST
1- ABBIT RATTLEY
FIGHT FOR FREEDOM should appreciate rising in distance here now 2nd up. He is a winner over this track/distance and should appreciate the expected conditions. VIVALDI’S QUEST has been in for of late placing in his last 4 starts this prep. He rises to this trip for the first time, but the way he has finished off in his last couple suggests he should handle the trip. Given clear running space in the straight he will be in the finish. ABBIT RATTLEY maps to get the on speed run of the race from his barrier. He has form over this track/distance and will be a main danger if the track conditions are upgraded to a good, not sure on his form on soft surfaces.
Race 8
2- CASTLE OF KINGS
3- HE WILL BOOM
6- DOMINATION
This looks all about the short fave CASTLE OF KINGS here. Resuming today after having had a successful and consistent first prep. He should be the one that leads them up and could take some catching, his only win in a short career was here at the track. This race should be easier than what HE WILL BOOM contested in his last start. He won 2 in a row over this distance prior to the Morphettville run and has form here at the track. The wide barrier is the concern and that’s why he represents some value, but if the leaders go too hard it may set him up. DOMINATION looks the runner who has the early speed to match CASTLE OF KINGS and may be a main concern. He is 2nd up her today and may be fitter now.
