Moonee Valley, Saturday, 22/10

Conditions - Soft

Race 1

1- ARKANSAW KID

5-SAILOR’S RUN

4- MEXICO

No exposed race form in this race so hard to map get a gauge on the runner at the races. ARKANSAW KID has been well found early in markets, expect him to run well. SAILOR’S RUN and MEXICO have both also trialled well and look like solid chances.

Race 2

3- ESTA LA ROCKA (VALUE OF THE DAY)

7- YULONG COMMAND

6- SATORIAL SPLENDOUR

ESTA LA ROCKA & YULONG COMMAND are both track specialists and have particularly good records over this track and distance. Feel the fact that there is rain forecast and it’s potentially a wet track, ESTA LA ROCKA looks the one to be with as he has the best form on a wet surface. YULONG COMMAND probably gets a better run but wants a dry track. SATORIAL SPLENDOUR also a good chance, drawn for the gun run out of barrier 1

Race 3

6- SHALAILED

9- GREAT BARRIER REEF

4- KINGS CONSORT

This race looks like it will map perfectly for SHALAILED. Speed is drawn towards the outside of the field, from barrier 5 he should be a chance to take a sit off the speed and run them down late. Rising in trip now should really suit the GREAT BARRIER REEF and if the are making ground at the track he should be able to be a big chance. Only 3.5L behind GIGA KICK who has come out and franked that form. Roughie play on KINGS CONSORT, who usually resumes well and had form behind smart runners last prep.

Race 4

12- GREECE

10- EVERGLADE

3- WILLUNGA BEAST

GREECE ticked off an easy win when destroying them from the front at Geelong. She maps to get another on speed run and could again be in a super position. Wont want it too wet but she looks the Best horse in this easily. EVERGLADE was a super impressive winner on debut here. Handled the track well and won by 4.3L with a fair bit of ease. If he can improve on that effort he looks a strong chance. WILLUNGA BEAST opts for this race over a winnable one back in Sydney. He looks the one who will be best suited if the track gets into that heavy range.

Race 5

2- DO IT LA

5- HELL HATH NO FURY

7- CLIMBING STAR

Probably the toughest race of the day to pick as it is quite open. Playing the percentages and going with DO IT LA on top as you would expect her to be one of the leaders from that barrier and should get a chance to control the race. HELL HATH NO FURY hasn’t had a lot of luck of late, was finishing off strongly last start, so rising in trip here should suit and give her a good chance to improve. CLIMBING STAR was an impressive debut winner. Any improvement on that and she will be competitive here again.

Race 6

7- VISINARI

6- GENTLEMAN ROY

1- CALLSIGN MAV

VISINARI 2nd up and rising in trip is suitable here today. It looks as if there is going to be a very hot tempo with at least 4 runners vying for the lead. Think VISINARI will benefit from this and can take a sit, let it unfold and then run over the top of them all late. GENTLEMAN ROY has endured some tough runs of late but has been sticking in well. He will fight out the finish. CALLSIGN MAV is a Group w winner and rates nicely.

Race 7

1- BERKLEY SQUARE (BEST OF THE DAY)

3- PERICLES

4- FOUJITA SAN

BERKLEY SQUARE is the stand out runner of this field. The rise in trip really suits as it has looked like he has a lot in the tank after his past 2 runs. He has shown he can be adaptable and run on speed or back in the field. Given the extra trip, he will be hard to hold out late. PERICLES is much more lightly raced than rivals in this. We have seen him race on speed so if he can do that here over the staying trip, he is one who might take control for the race. FOUJITA SAN had big raps on him a few months ago, but hasn’t managed to find that good form. If he shows up with the talent they say he has, he could be a chance.

Race 8

11- FRANCESCO GUARDI

3- DESERT ICON

12- THE AMAZONIAN

FRANCESCO GUARDI found some serious trouble in his last start 2nd, but what he showed in that race is the he relished rising to the 2500m. Gets that trip again here today, if he can produce a similar run minus the bad luck. He will be around the mark. DESERT ICON has won 2 races here at the track recently, which that could be an advantage. He is unproven at the trip which is the only query. THE AMAZONIAN gets in here at a very light weight and rising in trip where she has previously proven she is capable of running the 2500m out. She can’t be discounted for this.

Race 9

10- ANAMOE

1- ZAAKI

6- GOLD TRIP

Find it hard to make a case for anything to beat ANAMOE here today. While it was a close run last start, feel that he is only going to improve out of that race having had a run under his belt now. The race may set up perfectly for him as he can take a sit just behind the expected leaders, and he should get his chance to run them down. ZAAKI got all the favours at the barrier draw when drawing 1. He gets his chance to lead softly and will be the one they need to run down. GOLD TRIP adds a bit of X factor into this race. He is backing up after a really strong effort in the Caulfield Cup. If he finds his peak effort, he looks a good chance as well.

Race 10

1- SIRILEO MISS

5- MY WHISPER

3- AGREEABLE

By now the track conditions are a bit of an unknown depending on what rain will come. Playing it safe with SIRILEO MISS on top who has been able to win on all track conditions and should get a comfortable run behind the leaders out of barrier 4. MY WHISPER is dropping in grade and rising in distance which will really suit here. 3rd up,now, expecting she can be an improver off the last few starts this prep. AGREEABLE may need some luck from barrier 2, but she brings across some good form in SA cup meetings at listed level and that form has already stacked up here in Victoria.

Race 11

5- PAULELE

10- BELLA NIPOTINA

14- COOLANGATTA

The rescheduled MANIKATO. Find it tough as it will potentially be a completely different track conditions to what we were expecting Friday night. Sticking with the same runners though. PAULELE was huge in the Moir, came home the fastest but ended up behind 3 and on the rail, so had too much to do. Don’t see McDonald making the same mistake here again and think he will get moving on him earlier and if there is room, he should be hard to hold out. BELLA NIPOTINA was another huge run out of the Moir. Draws a much better barrier here today, expecting that may help her find an easier run and be more prominent to produce the big finish late again. COOLANGATTA was the winner of the Moir, won’t have to do much different to win here again today. She is low at weights, drawn well and has good speed. There will just potentially be a lot more pressure on her in this race.
