Conditions - SOFT

Race 1

4- WALK LIKE AN ANGEL

2- NINEVEH

1- KALASEC

WALK LIKE AN ANGEL looks like a runner who can take some big improvements out of her debut performance when she was 2nd behind KALASEC a fortnight ago. She looked a bit green in the straight and did a few things wrong so expecting she will be better for having had that race day run now and can take the next step towards a win. Victorian visitor NINEVEH is a last start winner when breaking her maiden at Warracknabeal. She has a good amount of race experience now and she will likely push forwards and lead them up putting her into a strong position. KALASEC was a good winner last start at Murray Bridge and did defeat this races fave in that run. He goes up in weight today but that is offset by the apprentice claim, if he can run a similar race to the last start, he will go well here.

Race 2

1- PICARGO

3- METRO LEGEND

2- EXTRA MILE

There is a lot in the favour of PICARGO here today, who is a last start winner when resuming and is now 2nd up today. He is a winner over this track/trip, has multiple wins both 2nd up and in these conditions and he has a super record with Alana Livesey (6:3-2-1). He gets 3kgs off thanks to her claim and from barrier 2 he should land in a strong position in this run. METRO LEGEND is another who is 2nd up, he looked a big chance when resuming but peaked on his run in the straight so expecting a bit of extra fitness with that run under his belt now. He gets in light and the weights and will be suited to these track conditions, the small knock is he has no wins from 5 runs here on the Parks track. EXTRA MILE will be a big change if the track conditions get to the heavy range. He has a light weight and multiple heavy track wins, if more rain comes and they put a hot tempo into this race, he will be well placed to swoop on them.

Race 3

2- COLD CASE

6- ZAC’S BACK

8- WORLD ACTION

This is a tricky enough race, it maps to have a bit of a slow tempo so the feeling anything could happen is there. This is probably an easier task for COLD CASE than what he has done up against so far this prep. He is only lightly raced and gets a good map with options from barrier 3, he is from a strong stable so expecting he gets his best chance for a breakthrough this prep today. ZAC’S BACK is a last start winner when he won his maiden at a mid week meeting at Strathalbyn. He had to race for luck and took the inside run on inferior ground to run by them. That was an impressive run from him, he may need luck again as he will be back in the field, but he did manage to find the space late there. WORLD ACTION was an impressive winner 2 starts back on a very wet track, she stepped up in grade next and found that a bit sharp. This is easier now and expect if the track does get to a heavy she will be well placed on it.

Race 4

3- WILD IMAGINATION

9- HOPE AT HAND

4- TAHNEE TRADITION

Have a lot of time for the runner WILD IMAGINATION. She is a very adaptable type who can push forwards if required or can take a sit and produce a big finish. She ran a big race when resuming over the 1200m so going up to the 1400m and down in grade suits. HOPE AT HAND was only 3L off ROYAL MERCHANT 2 starts back and ran some good races over the SA carnival at listed level before finishing 3rd last start. This is coming up in grade now but if she can recapture her best for she should be thereabouts. TAHNEE TRADITION won here last weekend and backs up in a very similar type race today. Suitable track conditions and goes well on this parks track.

Race 5

1- KLABEL

4- NOBLE MAGNATE

5- SECOND TO NUN

KLABEL beat a very similar field to this last start and gets in very similar at the weights today with a 3kg claiming apprentice. He is a winner at this track and gets suitable conditions. Expecting he can use his speed and get across from the wide barrier and he will be the one they need to catch again today. NOBLE MAGNATE was 2nd behind KLABEL in their last start. He did a lot wrong through the run but still managed to make up good ground late. The stable’s senior jockey hops on today in an attempt to maybe help him settle. Expecting if he can settle and put himself in a better position, he should go close again. SECOND TO NUN is a last start winner who was very impressive when giving nothing else a chance late. She looks a big threat in this race but is nominated across a few different meetings this weekend so potentially we see her in Melbourne or Swan Hill.

Race 6

2- ANOTHER PONZI

8- TURFITT

1- RUN AND TELL

ANOTHER PONZI hasn’t put a foot wrong yet this prep winning 2 in a row and this race doesn’t looks much harder for him than anything he has come up against so far this time in work. He profiles very nicely for a lightly raced horse and has started short in all 4 of his career starts, so the market wants to be with him and it looks the same here today. He is drawn wide, but with a lack of speed in the race you would expect he can cross with RUN AND TELL and sit outside the leader or take a sit if needed. The way he has been finishing off his races at Balaklava suggests he will be strong over the 1400m. TURFITT takes a good drop in grade here today having been 4th in a BM82 last start. She will be back in the running and will probably need luck in the straight, but with the speed drawn out wide she may be well set up. RUN AND TELL looks the natural leader of this race and if the track is favouring leaders, he should find himself in that position without too much pressure and may be able to run away with it.

Race 7

6- DIXIE WHISTLER

2- CANFORD

1- GOLDEN CRUSADER

A few of these runners are coming out of the same 2500m race at Murray Bridge a fortnight ago and that looks to be the go to form reference. DIXIE WHISTLER ran a very bold 2nd when she had to fight on late after she hit the lead in the straight. It’s tough to lead for a long time at Murray Bridge and she is much better suited getting back into the Parks track where she has a good record. CANFORD ran in 3rd behind DIXIE WHISTLER last start and went more forwards than usual which is what he will probably want to be doing here today. He is a proven stayer having won at this track previously and is at peak fitness now, the question mark on him will be how he goes with a bigger weight today. GOLDEN CRUSADER is a Victorian visitor who is dropping in grade having had some issues finishing that race off last start. He will likely push forwards from the low barrier and take up the lead and looks the one they need to catch. He will take some catching if he handles carrying a big weight as well.

Race 8

2- RIALTOR

4- MARACOURT

6- FANMALIA

RIALTOR looks really well placed in this today. He backs up having run 4th last week up in grade. He was met with huge market support prior to jumping last week also. Jumping from barrier 3, he should be able to get a comfortable leading position and has won over this track/trip previously. If the rain comes and we get to a heavy track, his chances only increase. MARACOURT comes off a last start win at Casterton. He produced a big run from the back of the field to be too strong late, so rising up to a 1550m trip today is suitable. He is a risk though that he will likely be back in the field and stuck on the rails looking for luck. FANMALIA was met with strong market support before saluting last start at Balaklava, he needs to find his best here but coming off the win may have been a good confidence booster.

Race 9

7- MIDNIGHT RUSH

5- DESTINY’S REPUBLIC

1- THE GOV

MIDNIGHT RUSH is only lightly raced and is resuming for his 2nd prep today. He showed good talent in the 1st up prep when winning on debut but did do the odd thing wrong. Some natural improvement and maturity should see him be very competitive in a race at this level. By this stage of the day we will know exactly how the track is playing, if it is a very leader bias favoured track, DESTINY’S REPUBLIC maps to find the front with out too much trouble and will be suited to a wet track. THE GOV is a last start winner and if he was to run up to that here he should be a good winning chance, but he does look a risk from the extreme outside barrier which may force him to do some extra work early.
