Conditions - Soft

Race 1

1- JENKINS

2- EAGLELOU

6- VEE ROD

JENKINS hits this race with some good fitness behind him now 3rd up. He has placed in his 2 other starts this prep both over trips that aren’t usually suitable for him. He now goes up to the 1550m which is ideal and he is going well. If he can settle himself midfield he will be in a very strong position. EAGLELOU has had a very consistent prep, he recently went on a run of finishing 2nd 4 starts in a row, but generally hits the line in strong fashion. He pushed forwards last start which is a better position to be on this track than back near the tail of the field where he has been running, expect him to be around the mark again. VEE ROD broke through to win his maiden last time in good fashion. Has a solid race map and will be in a strong position.

Race 2

3- KLABEL

11- TOSEN WATER

4- SIXFOOTONE

KLABEL finds himself dropping in grade for this race today and expect that is going to help him find his best form in an easier level race. He maps to lead and gets every chance to do that from barrier 5. This is the easiest race he has seen for sometime so expecting he will be very hard to catch. TOSEN WATER was well backed when resuming at Gawler for a win last start. He is lightly raced and this is harder today, but what he has showed in his 2 career races suggests he will be around the mark. SIXFOOTONE has placed in all 3 starts he has had this prep, this is a slightly tougher race than his last few, but he is in good form and will give himself every chance from the front of the field.

Race 3

2- DESIGNS

5- RIALTOR

11- SILENT SURRENTE

For me this is a tough race to nail down and its very open. DESIGNS can be a bit one paced, but he has previously run well here at Morphettville. He is up to the 1950m which is a much more suitable trip for him than the 1600m he resumed over last time. He has previously run 3rd in 3 of his 4 2nd up runs, so expect him to be a big improver today at a good price. RIALTOR comes into this race after a tough win in The Penola Cup. Have been with him a few times this prep and he is a very honest runner who is in super form. Have a slight concern with him here today though given the fact we haven’t seen him over the 1950m before, and he is coming off a run on a very heavy track and the query is how much that might have taken out of him. SILENT SURRENTE is the current race fave. She gets up in trip today which looks like it should really suit her and she gets in light at the weights, watch for her to be strong late.

Race 4

3- RECKONING

4- YURI ROYALE

9- UNLACED

RECKONING is bringing across some good form from recent runs in Victoria. He looked to have a lot to give in his last run but did encounter a fair bit of back luck. He is drawn the same barrier here today which is a slight negative but if he can land better than midfield he should be in a good enough position to find clear running space. YURI ROYALE was slightly disappointing when he went around last weekend when he blew the start and never looked a chance. They back him up quickly and have booked a senior jockey which is a positive move. 4th up here today and is 2/2 wins when 4th up, so peaking in fitness now. UNLACED drops in grade today and is 2nd up where she has previous had good form. Has also had 2 wins from 3 starts over this same track/distance so wouldn’t surprise to see her run well at good odds.

Race 5

5- STARTS WITH HELLO

9- FALAISE

12- PIINK BEAUTY

STARTS WITH HELLO looked as if he found the 1600m a bit too much last time out. Prior to that run he was super impressive winning a very similar race to this one today. He has had a freshen up now and is back to the 1400m, both positives for him. Feel he will be hard to beat but he is getting short enough now in markets. FALAISE had excuses last start when he faded late to finish 3rd as a backed into odds on favorite. He produced a very strong win prior to that and the market support in the last start signals that he could be a smart type. He is worth a small bet around the $7 mark to find out exactly how good he might be. PIINK BEAUTY drops in grade today after a 4th at Oakbank. She was made to do some extra work early in that Oakbank race which didn’t help her. But she is drawnin barrier 1 here today, she will likely push forwards and be in a strong position.

Race 6

6- ROYAL MERCHANT (BEST OF DAY)

10- BILLIE BRONX

7- PRAIRIE FLOWER

ROYAL MERCHANT hasn’t run a bad race in her short 9 start career. She was 2nd at Group 2 level only as recently as February which is a strong form line for a race like this. She gets in well at weights and maps to push forwards and control this race. She will take a lot of catching and looks hard to beat. Happy to forgive BILLIE BRONX for her last start. She pulled up lame in the Clare Lindop Stakes, but she did have a lot of market support for that race. She will get a good run here and wouldnt surprise to see he run a big race at a good price. PRAIRIE FLOWER is on the quick back up after she was a winner last weekend. The rise in trip is the query around her here today, but she is fit and in good form so needs to be respected.

Race 7

7- SASKATOON

1- AYRTON

3- NONAME LANE

Love the set up for SASKATOON in this race today. This race maps to have a lot of speed up the front and from barrier 3, it will give him the opportunity to camp behind that speed and still be in a very good position in running. He is undefeated in 2 starts over this track/trip and has an overall record of 4:3-1-0 over the 1400m. The last start he was very tough when overcoming a wide barrier to still nearly win at Oakbank. He is fit and a proven winner who looks well placed. AYRTON is a class runner and rates the highest of any runners in this field. His best is good enough, but he looks like he should have a lot of pressure on him from the wide barrier which I feel will be his undoing, but he needs to be respected on the talent he does posses. NONAME LANE tends to find his best form after he gets a few runs under his belt into a prep. He is 3rd up here today and fitter for that. If the track is wet, I would be more keen on his chances.

Race 8

5- I’MLOVIN’YA (EW/VALUE OF DAY)

3- RENOSU

8- GREY RIVER

I’MLOVIN’YA looks like she is a very smart filly. She resumes here today off the back of 2 very good trial wins and she looks like she has come on and developed since we last saw here at the races. She is already a listed winner and she looks like someone who has The Sangster in her targets this prep. She is a good price for a runner who has a lot of upside. RENOSU was 2nd last time at Flemington behind a very smart looking horse and prior to that he was a winner in NSW. His best form is very smart and he should be a big chance. While he has drawn a wide barrier, it isn’t a huge concern as they are coming out of the chute start on the main track which will give him time to get across. GREY RIVER was very impressive when she turned out last prep, winning 2 races and then competing well in 2x strong Listed level races and Caulfield and Flemington. She looks the best chances of the local runners. Others who look like they will run well here include DOULL, PRESS DOWN and SEVEN VEILS.

Race 9

2- IN THE BOAT

10- ANOTHER AWARD

1- KALLOS

IN THE BOAT is a speed machine and will push forwards in this race and it will take a big effort to catch him. He has been caught in both his other runs this prep but he is now 3rd up and fitter. He has previously been a 3rd up winner and he gets a suitable track here that tends to favour on-speed runners. Feel this is his race to loose. ANOTHER AWARD wasn’t very far away from the winners last start when she was 1.2L 4th at listed level. She made up good ground on the winners which was particularly impressive considering she had to carry 60kgs. She gets well back in at the weights today down in the 56.5kg today. There will be speed on here which may set her up really nicely. She is aimed at a Group 1 level race this prep so expect a strong showing in this. KALLOS is a classy runner from a super stable. He has won 2 in a row now this prep but they were both down the Flemington straight where he does his best work. He is going to need some luck from the wide barrier, but is the class runner.

Race 10

11- ENDLESSLY

1- LARKHAM

18- SHOOTING STARS

This is a very open race to close out the program. Our race fave is currently at $7.50, showing exactly how open this race is. We are with ENDLESSLY here who is dropping down in grade today having had her last run in The Listed Railway at Oakbank. She stuck on very well in that race to finish 5th after she had to deal with a wide barrier and taking a run in the inferior ground. She will find this much easier today and comes in nicely at the weights and the barriers. LARKHAM comes out of the same last race as ENDLESSLY does, but was never really much of a chance then. He gets back onto the track where he has had the most success in his career at. He has had 6 of his 7 career wins here over this same track/trip, so returning to Morphettville you would expect to see him improve. SHOOTING STARS was hugely disappointing last start at Oakbank. She potentially had some excuses so can be forgiven and given how light she has gotten in here at the weight, expect she will be a big improver.
