EN FRANCAIS is your short price fave and in good form. The last start win was strong, but at currently $1.65 he feels to short to take for me and I’m willing to take him on as he is coming up in grade. YURI ROYALE is rising to a suitable trip now 2nd up. He has won over this track/distance previously and last prep beat home HARLEYMOVEN who went on and produced some strong efforts durning the SA group carnival. DANISH FORTUNE has previously been competitive in a stronger grade than this.
Race 2
4- UNLACED
3- CASHIN CHEX
1- JAGUARY
CASHIN CHEX got the better of UNLACED when they met last start at Gawler, finishing in the quinella. CASHIN CHEX had been in super form not missing a placing this prep in 5 starts, but like UNLACED to turn the tables. She looks likely to lead which may give her a bias on the parks track if she gets to the front quite easily. She is 2:2-0-0 over this track/distance. JAGUARY backs up into this off the back of a super win last weekend. He wants it wet, so is really well suited if the track gets to a heavy. Only small query on him in this is dropping back in distance.
Race 3
1- SILENT COMMAND
2- LORD BOUZERON
5- PERFECT ILLUSION
Rising in distance should really suit SILENT COMMAND here after he looked to be finishing off well last week. Will need to find his best here but the conditions should suit and this doesn’t look as hard as last weeks run. LORD BOUZERON maps to be the leader, so may be advantaged by the track bias if given too much of a head start. He runs well here on the parks track. PERFECT ILLUSION steps up in grade after an over due win last start, he has showed to appreciate these staying trips.
Race 4
1- EROS
14- ZEBELLA
5- KUSU
EROS is overdue a win having been 2nd 3/4 starts and close each time. They seem to have been trying to find the right race for him as he has had a gap between runs but he looks good in this. Draws a soft barrier so should be able to get a good on speed run and be in control of this race. Though ZEBELLA was good on debut, almost beat home a well fancied debutant. She showed good speed in that race which will help give her every chance at this track. A similar run to last should see her figure in the finish of this. KUSU debuted in a decent 2yo race where she placed before going straight out to the paddock. She may have been a bit immature and needed more time. Won a recent trial in the lead up to this.
Race 5
7- DANCE TO DUBAI (BEST OF DAY)
2- RIVER TWAIN
1- CLASSY JOE
DANCE TO DUBAI has been really good in recent runs at Victorian Metro level. This is a much easier race than her last few. She has good early speed and is drawn well, so expecting her to really appreciate this track. And she will be on speed and hard to catch. RIVER TWAIN won over this track/distance back in February and resumes here. Has won when fresh previously and does have enough early speed to push forwards and feature from barrier 2. CLASSY JOE is 2nd up today and will probably be better over a further distance, but he has proven to be competitive at this grade and if the conditions are really wet, he will be well suited.
Race 6
4- MR HAVE A CHAT (VALUE OF DAY)
3- QUIETLY DISCREET
1- WINNING WEATHER
MR HAVE A CHAT just missed out here last week going down in a photo. He went straight to the lead from a wider barrier and got caught late. Should get s better run from an inside barrier today and will carry 2kg less than last week. QUIETLY DISCREET resumes here for a new stable today, won a similar race to this 1st up in last prep. She can track up MR HAVE A CHAT from barrier 4 and maybe if he fades late, can get past. WINNING WEATHER is drawn wide, but can go back and run on so shouldn’t be too bothered. If runners are running on here late, think she may be set up perfectly to swoop on the leaders and round them up late. May get a chance to do that as there does look to be a lot of speed in this.
Race 7
6- FORBIDDEN CITY
1- BOLD HOI HO
2- JACKS ON ICE
FORBIDDEN CITY is 1st up in this. Last time she was fresh in a prep she smashed the field impressively to break her maiden. She has been solid upon tougher company than what she finds in this field today. Drawn soft and should get a nice run. BOLD HOI HO looked good when winning his 1st 2 career starts but that form has faded in the last couple, this looks slightly easier and expect he can handle the track. If he can recapture the good form he is a good EW chance. JACKS ON ICE resumes today, he didn’t miss the top 2 in his first prep and won a trial prior to today. Maps to push forwards which generally gives you the best chance at this track.
Race 8
10- KONG
5- TIME WARRIOR
12- SHORT STORIES
What looks like the toughest race of the day in my opinion. Have put KONG on top, but hoping he can drift towards the $3 mark before considering a bet. He was too unlucky last start to not consider him here again and he has been well supported each start this prep. TIME WARRIOR looks the likely leader which again is usually the best spot to be here. He has won here before and can win in wet conditions. SHORT STORIES was good last start running into some decent horses. The form could be franked from last weeks race if Mr Have A Chat can win earlier in the card. Rises to a suitable distance here.
Race 9
3- RUN AND TELL
12- MY KHALIFA
1- VENUSIAN
RUN AND TELL profiles to get a really good on speed run here and take control of this race. He strung together some really good performances last prep the fitter he got. Big chance to find his best while coming slightly back down in grade. MY KHALIFA has showed steady improvement since resuming off a long spell, if he can recapture the form he was in prior to the spell which was in a tougher grade, he should be a chance. VENUSIAN had won 3 in a row before the last start 4th, he seems better suited to bigger track, but if they have been making up ground here today, watch for him to flash late.
