Best Bets

R3/4- WINE BARRON (BEST OF DAY)

  • Only a lightly raced runner, but he showed some really good things in his last prep. He had 4 starts last prep, didn’t miss a placing and one of the races was a win. And to close out the prep he was 2nd in The Adelaide Guineas behind PARTY PRINCESS. WINE BARRON resumes here from a spell with 2 decent trials under his belt, he will jump from barrier 3 which should see him land in a super spot near the lead and Michael Hickmott’s stable has been flying of late (15 Wins in last 50 runners @ 30% with a ROT of 73.5%)

R6/4- CHICAGO STORM

  • 3rd up here today, he was a good winner when resuming and then was only beaten by a very impressive run from LORD VLADIVOSTOK 2nd up. He goes up to the 1400m today where he has won previously. He loves this track and Jason Holder takes the ride so expecting him to be positive early and race handy to the speed in a good position.

R8/1- CALLA DREAM

  • Had a strong win 1st up when holding on to defeat the likes of ORACLE SON (who ran well at Flemington last weekend). You would expect that she would take some fitness benefit out of that tough 1st up run. She has a super record over this 1000m trip on The Parks track (4:3-1-0). She has good early speed so should be racing handy and will be benefitted by the 3kg claim of Kelsey Hannan bringing her down to a manageable 57.5kgs. Only query is the track condition come Saturday, CALLA DREAM’s best form is on soft tracks so improving conditions through the day might prove a disadvantage.
