Conditions - Soft

Race 1

3- EROS **SCRATCHED**

1- NO DRAMA

2- THE GUAVA

7- TAPINFORPAR

EROS is nominated for Caulfield as well today, but if he runs here he looks a huge chance. This is a much easier field than what he has come up against early in his career and he hasn’t been far away in any of those runs, he might be a classy runner that we just haven’t seen the best of yet. Few unknowns about NO DRAMA coming into this, he is on Australian debut as a runner coming from NZ. He has won his only career race back in NZ and trailed well leading into this, but this may be tougher. THE GUAVA is a last start winner and wasn’t very far away from EROS when they came up against each other 2 starts back, that form should stack up in this

Race 2

4- GO BUNDLE

5- SACRED AMOUR

1- KENYAN WONDER

GO BUNDLE like to race on the speed and maps for a perfect run from barrier 1 here today, his only other start on a heavy surface he won. Looks really well suited. SACRED AMOUR gets a chance here to improve on recent form thanks to a drop in class and coming back in trip. He seems to run better below the 1400m where he has been in his past couple. KENYAN WONDER takes a big drop in class from her last start where she ran a good race race in a strong field and is over her preferred distance here.

Race 3

5- REFLECT THE STARS

3- BRAWL

8- SMILING ASSASSIN

This is a lot easier that the last race REFLECT THE STARS contested last start at Flemington. His form over this trip is a lot stronger than most in this field, 5:1-2-2 over the trip and that includes a win over this track/trip. Only query about him is how he goes on a wet surface. BRAWL finished only about 2L behind REFLECT THE STARS when they met 2 starts back so is capable, will just need luck late as he generally gets back in the field and with a big field and potential heavy track, he may find trouble. SMILING ASSASSIN is fit and has covered this trip well in recent runs. Dropped in class to win last start and was placed in a similar race prior to that run.

Race 4

1- DARCEANDERMILL (EW/VALUE OF DAY)

4- KNIGHTSTOWN

9- SABERMETRIC

DARCEANDERMILL has a super record on wet tracks and should get a soft run here from barrier 2. Drops in grade from recent runs in Victoria and at a good EW price should run a good race. KNIGHTSTOWN has had a tough prep, but has good potential to be a quick improver, he was contesting sharp listed races a couple runs back and there has been some strong form out of those. He gets a better chance here on the main morphettville track rather than the parks. SABERMATRIC is only a lightly raced runner but should get a good chance to push forward and be in a strong position through the run. Light in the weight should give him a good chance late to be finishing it off.

Race 5

3- EL CORDOBES (BEST OF DAY)

5- FOX D’OR

2- ANOTHER RALLY

EL CORDOBES looks one of the better stand outs here today. He is dropping in grade from a last start 2nd at Geelong and that was on a heavy track. He is only lightly raced and looks the most progressive type of this field and the booking of Vorster is a smart move for a visiting horse. The stable of FOX D’OR have opted to run in this instead of a race at Gawler on the Wednesday just been. He was disappointing last start, but the form prior to that was strong. Gets a wet track and an ideal distance that suits here. ANOTHER RALLY won on debut and form from that race has been franked with another winner. Suggest he will handle a wet track.

Race 6

5- SACRED PALACE

4- EXTRA TIME

1- OUTLAWS REVENGE

Best race of the day this one. Think it fair to say OUTLAWS REVENGE is probably the best horse in this race, but he is in the unfortunate position that due to his high rating, he will carry a big weight even after the apprentice claim, and his job will be harder as well if the conditions remain at a heavy. SACRED PALACE is bringing strong recent form lines into this race and he looks really well placed on a wet and track and over this trip where he has only missed the placings once (7:2-1-3). EXTRA TIME is another strong runner who has been in good recent form. Usually gets back and runs on late, so being on the main Morphettville track suits, but how he handles the heavy track is the query here.

Race 7

4- NONAME LANE

2- JAGUARY

5- SOMERSET MAUGHAM

Tough to split NONAME LANE & JAGUARY. They are coming out of the same race last start where NONAME LANE won quiet easily. But he will have to carry a bigger weight here today due to that win and rise in rating. He will still go around lighter than JAGUARY and has a good record 4th up and on wet tracks, so still give him the edge. But if there is rain around and the track is rated a heavy at this stage of the day, I think that’s what can give JAGUARY the advantage, so it’s a watch on conditions race. SOMERSET MAUGHAM drops in grade from his most recent runs back in Victoria. His best is good enough.

Race 8

1- FIGHTING MCLAREN

12- CHOSEN BLONDE

7- JABALI RIDGE

FIGHTING MCLAREN resumed really strongly last start with a win and gets a very similar race here to make it 2 in a row, he is drawn for a similar run but has the extra weight now and that’s the query. CHOSEN BLONDE was well supported when running 4th behind FIGHTING MCLAREN last start, runs prior to that were in stronger grades. She has a weight swing on the fave in this today which should help her be a good chance to flip the result from last start. JABALI RIDGE has been in good form of late, having only missed the placings once in his last 5 starts.

Race 9

2- MR PICKWICK

5- PLATFORM

6- CASHIN’ CHEX

Ideal conditions here for MR PICKWICK. He prefers to run on the soft ground so will be well suited. He rises up to this trip for the first time today, but he has shown to date suggests will go well out at a staying trip. PLATFORM races up on speed and is drawn inside here, so expect he can get a soft run. He is only lightly raced, but has spent majority of his career on wet tracks so the conditions shouldn’t be an issue for him. CASHIN CHEX rises up in distance after finishing off really strongly in his last few races, fit and in form, looks a danger.
