Small field for this 2YO Class2 race. Found it tough to split both SURPRISE COMING & ESSENTRIC NATURE who both won maiden races in good fashion in their last start. Was slightly more taken by what SURPRISE COMING did over the 900m run at Murray Bridge, reeling off the fastest closing sectionals of the entire meeting. That suggests the rise up to 1200m will really suit and she has good upside. ESSENTRIC NATURE won in tough fashion up on the speed, it wont surprise to see him improve off that run. DERBY DOWNS has a race experience edge on a few others in this field and comes out of a good level 2YO race so may also improve.

CLASSY KENNY backs up after he ran 3rd last weekend behind the inform PICARGO. He was less than 1/2L off the winner and will drop down in grade here today. He has looked close to a win in his last few having placed 2 in a row now. Gets in better at the weights than the fave does and has won twice previously this track/trip. COLD CASE is a runner in good form having won 2 of his past 3 runs. He is having a good prep and maps well here. Expect he will be around the mark once again. OUR BOY BRYAN brings some Victorian form lines into this race. He went around as the fave in a higher rated race last start. If the track his wet you would expect his winning chances improve here.

LADY SIMONE stuck on well last start behind the smart JEAN VALJEAN, she was inclined to fade late after finding some trouble in the straight but did fight on. She gets a good race map here today and if she is clean away should land in a good position in running and rising up to the 1200m suits. QUEEN OF THE GREEN looks to have the strongest form lines behind her and did contest a stakes race here at the start of her prep. She has been slow away which has undone her in the last couple of starts but finds a winnable race here. WHENTHEDEELINGSDUN was disappointing when resuming, she draws well here so expecting she will be more positive early and was an impressive winner 2nd up last prep.

Have been waiting to see ORBITAL EXPRESS get out to a staying trip since she has arrived in South Australia. She has been finishing off strongly at a lower distance so the rise in trip looks very suitable now she has some extra fitness. JAGUARY was being well supported last weekend before he was scratched. He was an impressive winner against good company last time and this looks a similar race. He rates highly in this field but has to carry a heavy weight to win. Expect BLACKCOMB will run a good race now she gets out to a staying trip. She is proven at a longer distance and is better suited here today. She is a last start winner and recent form has been solid.

Happy to forgive DELIGHTFUL SHECKY for his last start run where he ended up in an awkward position and was found to be lame post race. He still managed to hold onto 3rd even though he endured a tough run. He has placed in his last 3 and has been well supported in those runs. He doesn’t look far away from a win at this level, drawn well and Jason Holder sticks, if he is here in good shape he can run a good race. DIAMOND MODEL drops back in grade today having recently been going around in Victorian midweek meetings. She has a good record and rates highly in this field, but looks a small risk at the price given she has a big weight and drawn wide. FANCIFY backs up today having run last weekend. She was well supported and finished 4th. Expect she will have taken benefit out of having had that 1st up run now.

4- RIALTOR

This is a very open race to kick off the Quaddie. SILENT SURRENTE resumes here today off the back of some nice trials. She had a very good prep last time in work including winning 2 in a row on this track. She will likely improve after this run going up in trip and with some more fitness, but she is a 1st up winner and a winner over the 1600m. CHICAGO BEAR drops down in grade and should find this easier than his last few runs back in Victoria. The form around him back in Victoria is strong and if he can produce his best here he rate well. And throwing in RIALTOR who back up after he ran 3rd last weekend. He is an honest type who pushes forwards and makes his own luck, he will carry 3kg less than last weekend and maps well from barrier 2.

7- SHOW SOME DECORUM

6- KARACASU

1- MONTIGN

SHOW SOME DECORUM resumes here today. He has a super 1st up record (5:3-0-1) and he has produced 2 good recent trials to suggest he gets here in good order. He also looks really well placed given he draws softly in barrier 1 and with Alana Livesey’s 3kg claim, he will go around with only 52kgs on his back. KARACASU is 2nd up now, he gets back onto a track where he does his best work. He has won twice here previously and both over this 1100m trip. Barrier 10 is no concern as he will likely go back and can settle about midfield with some cover and produce a fast finish. MONTIGN is another runner who resumes here and has a good 1st up record (3:2-0-0). He runs well fresh but usually does his best work over a bit more distance. One to definitely follow out of this race.

6- LA DANSEUSE ROUGE

The Listed Lightning Stakes for the 2 & 3 YOs over the 1050m is the feature race of the day. It’s a super interesting race given the fact we have some very handy types coming across from Victoria meeting some provincial SA winners, but the visitors have drawn the car park which make things tricky. EXPLORING looks like she is the classiest runner in this field but she may have to work hard to find a position from what is currently barrier 16. Some will say that from the chute start it isnt a big concern, but this is the 1050m start and the chute isnt actually all that long into the bend. There is speed drawn under her which may keep her out wide and that is the query. She comes in well at the weights which may help her but the messy race map is the risk. WALLY WEST is one that represents some good value. Feel that the stable has always had an opinion of this horse who contested some good races early in his career. He finally broke through 2 starts back and backed that win up with a solid 2nd performance last time in a handy race. He is drawn lower and may be able to sit off a hot speed and be strong late. LA DANSEUSE ROUGE resumes for this race. She has previously won when 1st up in a prep and has performed well in Group level races. Wouldn’t surprise.

Another open race to close out the meeting. SABERMETRIC maps well from barrier 5 and is resuming today. He is a proven 1st up performer having a record of (2:2-0-0) when 1st up into his preps. He can let some speed unfold outside him and looks well placed late if the race is run to suit. MERCHANT BOSS is a last start winner who defeated a horse that is well in the market for the feature race on today’s card. This is actually a drop back down in grade for MERCHANT BOSS and an easier race for him. The query over him is the wide barrier which may prove to be his undoing if he gets caught wide. CLAMARC resumed a winner coming off a long spell back in May. He has had a let up since that win and not sure if that was due to an injury, but based on that last start win he can go well at this level. Look for any market support as he was well supported last time.
