Murray Bridge, Saturday 1/7
Conditions - SOFT
Race 1
4- DUBENENKO
5- WALK LIKE AN ANGEL
1- BOLTED IN
This is a nice rich 2YO finals race here with a good amount of young talent in the race. DUBENENKO resumes here today off the back of 2 winning trials and she looks in good order. She produced a huge run in The Blue Diamond to finish 6th in that Group level race, a run similar to that would be good enough to win here. WALK LIKE AN ANGEL is a last start winner, she won that race quite convincingly and has shown good improvement across her 2 career runs as well as maybe having a fitness edge on this favourite. BOLTED IN has shown good talent across 4 career runs winning 2 of those. His last start he went to Flemington and ran into a smart type but this should be easier today.
Race 2
4- KEEVS (BEST OF DAY)
8- CAMPOBASSO
1- DIXIE WHISTLER
With the inform KEEVS who has won 2 in a row now including a last start win here over this track/trip. He only goes up 1Kg for this race today and meets a very similar field, all he has to do is run up to that last effort a fortnight ago and he should again be hard to beat. CAMPOBASSO comes up in grade today off the back of 2 good wins. He is in light at the weights and is a winner over this track/trip. If we were on a heavier track, I would be more keen to be with him so monitor track conditions. DIXIE WHISTLER is a very consistent stayer, she has finished 2nd in 3 career runs over this track/trip, expect another bold showing.
Race 3
3- SO SAY ANGEL
7- CLASSY KENNY
8- SAVILLE
Open race and think there is value to be had in this one. SO SAY ANGEL comes into this 4th up and fitter today now. She is a strong performer at this track and has interestingly had a very good trial during the week which she won quite convincingly. She may be ready to peak this prep now. CLASSY KENNY is dropping in grade today having last run in a feature race during the Swan Hill Carnival. Prior to that run he was 2nd 2 times in a row behind some handy types. He gets suitable conditions today and in an easier race may be best suited. SAVILLE has won 2 in a row now and is aiming for a hatrick today. He was a last start winner at this track/trip and has been well supported in early markets.
Race 4
4- TAHNEE TRADITION
8- PONTEDERA
2- OH MO
TAHNEE TRADITION is a mare in form and she looks well placed again here today. She is 3/3 over this 1400m trip and gets suitable track conditions. Like the fact she is drawn a wide barrier as I expect that the middle of the track will be the ideal position in running. PONTEDERA looks the main danger to the fave. He is consistent and will be looking to improve on his last start run of 6th. Prior to that he had come 2nd twice in a row and a win prior again. He goes around with only 52.5kgs today and on his home track all positives. OH MO is consistent, he has been 3rd in his past 3 starts. While he hasnt won here on this track before, he is never far away and has been 3rd twice over this track/trip.
Race 5
4- KARACASU
6- THE GOV
5- PEGASI
KARACASU resumes here today off a decent spell and he has a handy 1st up record (4:1-1-1). If he is here at his best, I would expect him to be very hard to beat, We saw some of his best this time a year ago now when he was 3rd at listed level behind PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE who went on to have a very good spring. KARACASU should find the middle of the track from barrier 11 and has a big finish he can produce late with clearing running space. THE GOV is in super form, he has won 2 of his last 4 starts (2nd in the other 2) and is 2/2 over this track/trip. He again gets in well at the weights and this is a very similar set up to the last start win, only small query is the inside barrier for him. PEGASI won his debut for the new stable here last start he has won 2 of 3 career 2nd up starts and looks likely to be around the mark again.
Race 6
14- MY RUBY (EW/VALUE OF DAY)
9- ORACLE SON
10- LADY SIMONE
This one is a very open race. As it stands right now we have a fave at $7 showing how open this race exactly is. I’m keen to be with MY RUBY on an EW basis in this race. She has placed in 4 of her last 5 starts and she has a good record here at Murray Bridge (4:2-1-0). I map her to get a very good run as it looks like there will be a fair bit of speed on in this race and it will potentially set the race up for a horse who settles midfield. From barrier 13 she should be every chance to find the middle of the track which is expected to be the ideal part of the straight. ORACLE SON was a big drifter when he resumed last start at Balaklava but he did get a bit fired up prior to the race. Expect he can be an improver 2nd up now having had that run. The blinkers go on as well which should help sharpen him up. LADY SIMONE is currently the fave. Her best is good enough but its interesting to see her come back to a 1000m trip of only a small break. She is in well at the weights and should get a comfortable run.
Race 7
1- EXALTED FIRE
3- MARACOURT
10- CRYPTO CURRENCY
Feel EXALTED FIRE is well placed 2nd up and onto his home track here today where he is (3:2-0-0) track/trip. He was very close to winning in a similar race when resuming. He should be fitter here today 2nd up now and rising to the 1600m. MARACOURT has found super form in his 3 runs this prep. The win 2 starts back at Casterton was a big run from the back of the field and then last start he just couldn’t get to the winner at Morphettville. The Murray Bridge track is one that should really suit him, but the inside barrier is a query for me. He may get caught deep on the rail. CRYPTO CURRENCY wouldn’t surprise at some big odds. He has a good record when 3rd up into a prep and he is a winner over this track/distance.
Race 8
4- SGHIRRIPA
3- NOBLE MAGNATE
1- KLABEL
This is the best race of the day and a quality 3YO field. It is a SA Racing rewards race so its no surprised a lot of talented runners have come to this race. It was tough to find an on top selection but have settled with SGHIRRIPA who was less than 1L off the winner at his last start at Flemington in a good level race. His form prior to that here in SA was very good when winning 2 in a row. He is a winner at the 1200m trip and the track conditions today should suit. NOBLE MAGNATE is the watch of the day for me. He can over do it a bit pre race sometimes in the mounting yard which does seem to make it sometimes cost him. He was big in his last start win at Morphettville and is well suited here at Murray Bridge. I will be watching him in the mounting yard and if he looks settled, be keen to be with him. KLABEL has won 2/2 over this track/trip including a win 2 starts back. Jumped as fave last time at Morphettville but was run over by NOBLE MAGNATE. Feel he over did it a little up on the speed last time so potentially the jockey switch today will be a big help for him.
Race 9
2- IMPORTANT PRODUCT
1- ANNIHILATE
6- RECREANT
IMPORTANT PRODUCT looks another good EW play here today. He has placed in 3 of his last 4 starts and won the other. Rising to the 1400m here today looks something that may suit his running pattern. He has been going over the 1200m but looks a bit one paced at times. On a bit of a wet track here if he can find the right run he should be able to at least grind out a placing. ANNIHILATE is an ex Chris Waller horse who has won 2 starts in a row now for his new stable. His last start win over this track/trip was impressive and his form suggests he should again be around the mark. Wouldn’t be surprised if we saw RECREANT run a race at big odds here 1st up. He has a good 1st up record and has been a winner at this track.
