Murray Bridge, Saturday 5/8
Conditions - SOFT
Race 1
1- BUBBLE OVER
2- ALPINE FLYER
7- OUR SHINING STAR
BUBBLE OVER was a good winner over this same track/trip here last start and has impressive stats here on the Murray Bridge track. She has won 2/3 starts here and has never missed the placings in 5 runs over the 1200m in the small field she should have a lot of room for a run. ALPINE FLYER looks the clear danger to the fave resuming here today. Is a 1st up winner and a winner over this track/trip, should be suited here. OUR SHINING STAR produced a big run here in a stronger race 2 starts ago before not having a lot of luck on the Parks track, expect she could produce an improved run today.
Race 2
2- ESECUTORE
7- EVERLY
4- STACK OUR REWARD
ESECUTORE is a Victorian visitor who has a race experience edge on some of the rivals he will meet here today. He was met with some support on debut when 4th at Bendigo. He should put himself in a good position forwards in running and should be in it a long way. EVERYLY looks the best of the debut runners in my opinion. Her lead up trials have been good including a winning run at her latest trial. She is well bred and a senior jockey is booked, wouldn’t surprise. STACK OUR REWARD also has some race experience which is a positive. She was 4h behind some handy types at Morphettville and has had some early market support to suggest he can back it up at this level today.
Race 3
6- SIX FOOT SONG
1- EXALTED FIRE
2- FUNNYIFITWON
SIX FOOT SONG is a last start winner stepping up in grade but goes around on the track she has had her most success at and could surprise at a price. She has won 2/3 over this exact same track/trip and form behind her last win has been franked at Gawler Wednesday. Always consistent and is well suited here. EXALTED FIRE hasn’t missed the Top2 in 3 runs this prep. He is well suited on his home track here today but the small query is how he will handle the staying trip given he hasn’t won at the distance before. If he gets his own way up front and can control the race tempo, he will be a big go. FUNNYIFITWON has been recently competing in midweek Victorian races and is a proven stayer, shouldn’t have an issue seeing out the 1800m and gets suitable conditions.
Race 4
1- VALIDATED (BEST OF DAY)
6- SO SAY ANGEL
5- PONTEDERA
VALIDATED has only gone over the 1400m trip once in his career, but the trip looks like it should really suit. This race should be easier than the last start run at Caulfield he competed in, he was only 2.5L off the winner VA VIA and that is strong form for a race at this level. He has won 2/2 here at Murray Bridge which is also a big positive. SO SAY ANGEL has had good support in her last few runs this prep. She comes up in grade today but has won 2/2 over this track/trip and Jason Holder hops back on for the first ride in a while. That could be a winning move given they have a 7:4-0-1 record when pairing up together. PONTEDERA was only beaten by a pimple at Morphettville last start. He drops in grade today and looks close to a win given he has placed in 4 of his last 5 starts.
Race 5
6- JEAN VALJEAN **SCRATCHED
1- ZORRO’S DREAM (VALUE OF DAY)
4- RODEO
Note that at time of writing, JEAN VALJEAN is still nominated for Flemington and may likely head there. If he does run here, he looks well placed to be able to back up his dominant 1st up win at Morphettville here. He won from the back on the parks track which is an impressive feat. He looks to be flying and in a smaller field on a big track, he may be very hard to hold out in the straight. ZORROS’S DREAM is a Victorian visitor who rates highly in this field. His recent runs have been against stronger competition and he looks a type that will Appreciate this wide open Murray Bridge track. RODEO hasn’t looked far away from a win so far this prep. She has placed in 2/3 runs and will likely race up on speed from a low barrier and will take catching if she gets an easy run up at the front,
Race 6
6- JET JITSU
4- COOL MAGNUM
5- DETNAW
Visitor JET JITSU is a runner who looks like he should really appreciate this bigger track here today. He is a runner with a powerful finish who needs so room to wind up which I feel he should get that today and we have seen him be competitive in stronger races last prep. COOL MAGNUM drops in grade here today and is 2nd up. He led them up at Morphettville last start and faded late, you would expect he will be in this for a bit longer today given he has the extra fitness now. DETNAW is a veteran runner who is very consistent. He might want it a bit wetter but from barrier 2 he should be close in running.
Race 7
1- ORACLE SON
2- LONRODEX
3- TICKETY BOOM
ORACLE SON has a big weight to carry yes but I’m not too worried about that over the 1000m trip. He was a winner here in a stronger race 2 starts ago and has put in 2 good performances from wide barriers. Drawn much better today in barrier 4 and should find a better run in transit. LONRODEX ran a nice 2nd behind JEAN VALJEAN when he resumed last start. He may improve being 2nd up now but was hoping to see him stretch out to a slightly longer trip. Still expect he will be around the mark and especially if he finds the run in the middle of the track.
Race 8
3- SING FOR PEACE
5- ORBITAL EXPRESS
2- SHINY ROCK
SING FOR PEACE is a proven stayer who you know will get this 2500m trip with out too much bother. He has been trialling over the hurdles in his last few and perhaps that has sharpened him up enough to take care of these. 2 starts back at Sandown he was 3rd behind IRISH BUTTERFLY & MIMIS AWARD which is strong form that has been franked now. ORBITAL EXPRESS won at Morphettville last weekend and backs up here quickly. The question is how she will handle the sharp rise in trip but she is in winning form now and may go on with it. SHINY ROCK has won 4 of his last 5 and made a mess of rivals in the Pt Augusta Cup last time. He is in super form and will see out the 2500m. Question mark is coming off the dirt onto the turf?
Race 9
9- MORE SUGAR
2- SET TO PROPHET
7- HEADPHONES
MORE SUGAR was scratched from a race last weekend and comes here to Murray Bridge and looks very well suited. She has won twice here and more specifically 1/1 over this track and trip. She has drawn a wide barrier but I’m not concerned, she will go back anyway and has a very big straight to be able to make up ground from the back, 1400m trip suits. SET TO PROPHET debuts for a new stable today. He was competing in a stronger grade back in Victoria so should be a good chance at this level. He has a win at this track and represents good EW value. HEADPHONES has won 3 at this track and draws for a good run out of barrier 2. He can land in a strong position and may be able to run away with the race from the front.
