Morphettville, Saturday, 24/6

REVIEW

Conditions - HEAVY9 R1-R4 Upgrade to HEAVY8 R5-R9

Rail - +10m 1200m-W/Post, +6m remainder

Race 1

OVERVIEW

Winner COOL THE JETS won from settling dead last in the field, but it was a small field. Comes wide and runs in about lane 6 making up good ground. This race was faster than the R8 BM64 and only a little bit off the R5 BM86.

RUNNERS OF NOTE

COOL THE JETS - Had a small amount of market support. Big run as she settled last and was doing a lot wrong. Reeled off fast sectionals on the wet track.

RUBINI - A roughie in the market. This was a career best performance. Didnt run straight in the straight, maybe looks for a senior jockey on in a midweek race.

LINES OF GLORY - Another really good run against some handy types. Likes a heavy track, should win a race in a mid-week heavy. Think Strath or Gawler

VALENTIA CHARM - Sat in the 1-1, looked a prime position but was squeezed up a little in the straight, may not have handled a heavy track

ANDAMOOKA - Pulled up out of the race, was the leader and looked like he was travelling really well. Perhaps didn’t handle the wet track and maybe a forgive.

Race 2

OVERVIEW

Winner settles midfield on the rail and sticks to the rail in the straight even though it may have been inferior ground. This 2YO race has just about gone as fast as R7 BM70 which had a track upgrade to a HEAVY8. Some good form likely to come out of this 2YO race going forwards for now. Careful putting the 2YOs vs older horses though.

RUNNERS OF NOTE

FREE BEER - On Debut Good run on the inferior ground in a quick time. They said he may need to grow some more. So if spelling keep an eye on for a resuming run.

SHADOWFAX - On debut Settles midfield outside FREE BEER, but opts for a run in the middle of the track while winner cuts the rail. makes up very good ground for 2nd. Not much between him and the winner, just lost extra ground on bend

OUROBOROS - Victorian visitor who jumped as fave. Did a lot wrong early in the race and was throwing his head around a lot. Has still done pretty good to stick on for 3rd but only a head off winner. Maybe a follow if he gets back to SA but not Melb Metro

ON THE SCENT - On debut. Closes off the race faster than any other horse. Impressive run on heavy ground.

DESERT DANCING - Had some good market support before the jump. Tracked the fave every where but looked pretty one paced in the straight. Feel he didnt handle the heavy.

TE PANI - Couldnt be restrained early and does a lot of extra work in the run. Leads into the straight but fades bad. Didnt appreciate the heavy. Looks talented but did a lot wrong

Race 3

OVERVIEW

Winner has settled dead last agin in the run. They havent gone at a very hard tempo. 1st and 2nd have put a gap on the field, both were about lanes 5,6,7 coming into the straight. It looks the best ground at this stage. Winner only just gets up by 0.2L

RUNNERS OF NOTE

CHIPSON - Impressive run from bck of the field making ground on a wet track.

DELIGHTFUL SHECKY - Had huge market support and made up super ground. Follow out of this if he goes somewhere easier next

BIG TOWN - Came out wide and was finishing off strongly. Put in a much improved performance. He might be able to target something easier next and be well placed at maiden level

LORD GEORGE - Went to the rail and gets held up for a run, passes a few on the way home once he finds some running space in the last 200m

SOLAR BLAST - Had a good position, doesnt do much in straight. Doesnt seem to have handled the wet track.

BALLON D’OR - Pulled up out of the race. No visable issues. Maybe didnt handle track.

Race 4

OVERVIEW

Winner is a huge $100+ roughie. He settles 3 back the fence only a few in front of midfield. The leaders fan out on the bend and it gives him the inside run on the rail to sneak through and win by a small margin.

RUNNERS OF NOTE

LAELAPS- Winner at huge odds on a heavy track. Looks for him to stay out in a good provincial grade race.

RIALTOR- Takes up the lead and is headed in the straight. Fights off other runners in the last 100m but the winner sneaks up on him from the other side.

SON OF BIELSKI- Settled wide behind PEACEMAKER and comes widest around the bend. Whacked away in the straight, heavy and wide run may have taken it out of him

PEACEMAKER- Caught out wide the trip, looks to lead maybe before peaking on his run in the last 100m. The wide run took it out of him.

TURFITT- Looked a leader at the top of the straight but faded, looked as if he didnt handle a heavy track.

Race 5

OVERVIEW

Winner has again come up the inside part of the track closer to the rails as the other runners have fanned wide. Winner did it quite easily. A lot of these didnt handle the track by the looks.
