Conditions - Sandown (Soft) Strathalbyn (Heavy)

R4/12- BUTTER BLONDE

This is a super open race, but really like how well placed BUTTER BLONDE appears to be and at a good price. Finds ideal conditions with the wet track and rain forecast so even if the track continues to be downgraded, it should still suit. The rail is out today so given she will probably lead from her barrier, she should take catching.

R6/1- STAR OF CHAOS (EW)

She looks huge overs for me here today currently at $19/$4.60. Definitely didn’t see her best in her last start but think her 2 runs prior to that, in much stronger races were very good when she finished 3rd in both and they appear to be the strongest form lines in the race. So she drops in class, should handle the soft track and due to how the track potentially races, I’m expecting they push forwards and will give herself every chance from the front.

R7/7- VITRUVIUS

Takes a step back in class from his last start and this will be easier. Last time he ran here at Sandown, we finished 2nd only 0.1L behind runner Sir Davy, who won a good race at Caulfield 28/5. The most impressive part about VITRUVIUS that day was the fact he missed the kick and endured a wide run through the race with no cover. He showed huge fight late then as well, if he gets an easier run and produces the same amount of fight, he will be hard to hold out.

R6/5- TEMPTING BELLE

Comes back in grade from her last start where she appeared to be finishing off best down the straight but left the run a bit late. She should improve from the run and has multiple wins on a heavy surface so will handle the track. Watch for her to produce a big finish and expecting she won’t be as far back today as last start.

R7/10- MALINONG CLUB (BEST OF DAY)

Jumped fave here last start and this today is now a drop in grade. The last start was over the same track/distance and she managed to rough on well for 2nd. She showed she will get a staying trip and has previous form winning on a heavy track. This is her home track so think she has a big upside today.
